Traffic awareness for our paving crews

PowerPoint and PDF are made in your browser and kept by nobody but you. A live link stores only what's on these slides, so the link works when you share it.
Step 1 of 4
Which best describes you?
The next questions change with your answer.
Step 2 of 4
This only shapes your briefing. Your text is read here in your browser. It is never sent to RoadDefender Works and is cleared when you leave the page. Only the details you confirm below appear on your slides.
Step 3 of 4
What will they ask you?
Tap up to three. Those get their own slides near the front. Skip this step and you get the full briefing.
Step 4 of 4
Who will read it?
This sets the order. Each group gets the part it cares about first.

You can't stop every car
We give your crew the one thing a barrier can't — a warning, on the wrist, before it matters.
RoadDefender watches approaching traffic from the work vehicle and cues each worker on the body, so they turn and face the road before a vehicle reaches them. It is supplemental to existing work zone safety measures: where a barrier can go, it still goes.

How it works
It watches the approachRadar and a camera on the truck read every approaching vehicle.
It decides on the spotRoadDefender Virtual Instinct runs on the vehicle. No gateway, no server, no round trip.
It cues the workerHaptic and visual, on the watch, hard to miss. Worn on the wrist, hat or pocket.
Pre-cueSomething out there is wrong: a vehicle over the posted speed set for the site, or out of step with traffic. A light buzz.
CueLook up. Repeats while the condition lasts, so the crew is facing traffic and ready.

What goes on the truck
Sensors on the outside of the truck, the computer in a sealed box on the vehicle, and the alert reaches the worker's wrist without needing a network to do it.
Nobody on the crew touches the unit. Supervisors see the live dashboard on their own tablet. Protection never depends on coverage. Live supervisor video does.

The record your platform fee pays for
Every pre-cue and cue is logged with time, GPS, vehicle speed and video. The dashboard also counts every vehicle through the zone and shows minimum, average and maximum speed, so crew alerts can be read against real traffic conditions.

Offering it across insured contractors
A carrier or broker can introduce RoadDefender to insured contractors, starting with a 90-day pilot at one insured. Each contractor runs its own units and keeps its own record.
For the insuredAn early warning for the crew, and a record of every pre-cue and cue at the work point.
For loss controlA factual account of what traffic did at the work point, to review with the insured.
For the programOne approach that works across paving, traffic control, maintenance and utility crews.
RoadDefender is supplemental to existing work zone safety measures. It does not replace any of them.

How agencies specify and buy it
RoadDefender is listed on the FDOT Approved Product List (APL). Other agencies usually start in one of three ways:
A pilot on a let projectThe contractor deploys it on one job, with success criteria agreed up front.
Maintenance forcesThe agency's own crews run it on routine work.
A developmental specificationWritten with your specifications office, so it can be bid as a pay item.
One unit and one specification can cover construction, maintenance and permitted utility crews. The record holds every pre-cue and cue with time, GPS, vehicle speed and video, alongside traffic volume and speeds through the zone.

What operations sees
The technician never touches a screen. RoadDefender cues them on the watch, and the computer stays sealed on the vehicle. Fleet analytics go to the operations team back at base.
By truck and locationEvery pre-cue and cue with time, GPS, vehicle speed and video.
Traffic at each stopVehicle count and minimum, average and maximum speed.
Nothing to set up roadsideThe unit runs from the vehicle without a network at the work point.
